Tektites are not themselves meteorites, but rather the natural glass objects that were formed upon the impact of the larger meteorites to the Earth's surface. They are similar to volcanic glass obsidian, except they lack microlites and phenocrysts that are in terrestrial volcanic glass and have virtually no water. You can also find shocked mineral grains melted into a tektite.
